Our History
Victoria Institute of Science and Technology (VIST) was established in 2023, Being among the first best private college to be registered in Zanzibar Tanzania in the year 2024, It has since then received local, regional and International recognition. It was the idea of Dr; Mohammed H. Hilal and his wife Mrs. Zanuba Mohammed to establish the college, moved by the situation in Zanzibar whereby diseases, poverty and ignorance were declared the country’s key enemies. The college is expanding into different programs, recent established programs include; Diploma in Clinical Medicine (CO), Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Diploma in Education Science, Diploma in Education Arts, Diploma in Education early childhood, Diploma in Public Health, Certificate in Information Communication Technology, Certificate in Laboratory Assistant, Certificate in Medical attendant, Certificate in Front desk operations, Certificate in Electrical Installation and Certificate in Basic Computer Application. VIST is growing to a level where it is becoming the pride of private colleges in Zanzibar and East African region due to quality and excellence of its programs.
The college was started with the following objectives:
- To widen access to quality education;
- To provide individuals with quality education conducive to becoming competent and innovative members who are responsive to the changing needs of society.
- To equip students with technological and entrepreneurial skills.
- To develop requisite infrastructure.
- To develop and maintain high quality in all its activities and services.
- To broaden the funding base of the college, and prudently manage its resources.
But these can only be achieved through having core values that both staff and students believe in which include; Excellence, integrity, respect, responsiveness, team work, cooperation, innovativeness, equity and time management.
